The monthly Dollar Day event, staged on the third Wednesday of each month by Marion businessmen, was especially well received this month. A large crowd of shoppers were in town, and stores participating all report their customers seemed pleased and happy at the monthly bargains.

The Lincolnville Lions became the North Marion County champions Oct. 14 with a 7-0 victory over Ramona.

Pfc. Don VanBuren, now stationed at Ft. Shafter, near Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, has been kept busy recently doing vocal work with the 264th Army band. Once a month they are taken by plane to another island for a 4-day stay. He sings at a number of regimental clubs and other places in the Hawaiian Islands.

Keith Kelsey was re-elected president, Ellen Garrison chosen as vice president, and Bettie Lou Holmes elected secretary-treasurer of the Civic Theatre group at a meeting Sept. 29. Five plays have been planned of the coming season.
