Stunts in the sky, zooming aircraft, fighter planes, and experienced clown, aircraft display, parachute jumps, and many other events will highlight the Civil Air Patrol flying carnival this Sunday afternoon at the Marion airport.

Wharton Hoch, editor of the Record-Review, has gone to sea. As a courtesy of the United States Navy, he will spend three weeks aboard the aircraft carrier, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in north Atlantic waters watching surface fleet maneuvers against submarines in iceberg-infested waters.

Norma Sly was selected queen and Leslie Powell Jr. as king, at the high school carnival held Tuesday evening. Both are seniors at Marion High School.

Extensive work will begin in about a week at the Strassburg Baptist Church. The church will be raised from its foundation and some walls replaced. An addition for extra classrooms will be added to the west and a new heating system installed.

Rachel Keazer, a graduate of Kansas School of Cosmetology has been hired as an operator in the Marion Beauty Shop, which will re-open Monday.
