A group of businessmen in Marion have taken it upon themselves to start a campaign to boost Roger “Buddy” Hannaford for all-state football honors. “Anyone who has seen Hannaford play will agree that he deserves to be placed on the all-state team,” was the comment most frequently heard after the Council Grove game.

Two new cases of polio have been reported in Marion County during the past week. Robert Neuwirth, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Neuwirth of Lincolnville, and Robert Holmes, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Holmes, also of Lincolnville, came down with polio on the same day, Nov. 16. These cases mark the seventh in the county since August 20.

Patsy Hett was chosen “Queen of the Warriors” for the homecoming football game last Friday night when Marion defeated Council Grove. Nora Zeller and Laura Jane Bredemeier were attendants to the queen.

Longhofer Supply makes announcement this week that they have taken over the dealership of Allis Chalmers tractors and farm machinery for Marion.
