The Marion mission of the Catholic church which has been meeting for some time in the basement of the City Building last week made arrangements to have a church in Marion in the near future. The congregation has purchased the Elk church and will move it to a site on the corner of North Cedar and Sherman streets. A parish has been formed and will be named St. Mark’s.

The first three men to be inducted into the Army from Marion County in recent months will report Sept. 12. They are Max Dunn and Ronald Kieferle of Marion and William Osgood of Peabody.

After being hampered for months, even years, by seemingly unavoidable delays, the Community Hospital for Marion seems to have taken an important step nearer reality this week. A resolution has been signed to go ahead immediately with the final plans.

Men on crutches are a common sight in Durham this week. Dave Rhode has a broken bone in his right foot, Melvin Frick has a twisted knee, Merrill Christiansen hurt his foot falling from a horse, and Mr. Young has an infection in one of his feet. Also injured is Gene Duke, who has a broken arm from falling from a horse.

Miss Jean Marilyn Muse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Muse, became the bride of Allen Jay Hein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hein, at 2 p.m. August 27 at the Methodist Church.
