Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thies have purchased the Conyers Grocery and Service station from Glenn “Shorty” Conyers. They will take over the operation of the popular neighborhood business this coming Monday.

Marion County had a sixth infantile paralysis case reported Wednesday. The latest victim, Marvin Ratzlaff, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Ratzlaff, is a popular Hillsboro High School student. At press time, it has not been ascertained as to the seriousness of this most recent attack.

Sale of the Aulne Elevator by Menno Harder to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Darrow is announced this week, effective October 1. Under the new management, the name will be changed to Aulne Grain Company.

Mrs. John E. Wheeler will present the following pupils in a piano recital at the city building Monday evening: LeNore Wheeler, Carlita Bass, Nila Jean Hoopes, Karen Joyce Conyers, Milford Hett, Arlene Hett, Carolyn Merrill, Becky Kay Rice, Kay Navrat, Ruth Ann Rice, Joyce Sue Roberts, Alice Ward, Diana Herbert, and Ruth Ireland.

The student body of Marion High picked cheerleaders for the coming season this week. Named to the first team were Laura Jane Bredemeier, Mary Hannaford, Doris Meredith, Max Herzet, and Jay Fisher. Chosen as second team cheerleaders were Jeaneen Brose, Claire Hyde, Shirley Tiemeier, Marion Navrat, and Dean Williams.
