Donations to Marion Library since the flood got an extra large boost this week when a truck loaded with over 1,000 volumes arrived from friends in Abilene. They were collected by Lucy Burkholder, former Marion librarian. Probably the largest single donation, reportedly in the thousands, was collected in Wichita by The Eagle and radio station KFH.

Miss Anne Burkholder, Miss Pat Brose, and Miss Patsy Harris were guests at a dinner party Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Higgins in El Dorado.

Cecil Post, manager of the local alfalfa mill, announces this week that Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. of Minneapolis, Minn., has purchased the W.J. Small Co., Inc., and will take control Sept. 1.

Joyce Ubben celebrated her 14th birthday Saturday afternoon with a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ubben. Guests were Lois Maltbie, Rita Miser, Margaret McClain, Marjie Ann Bernhardt, Pat Dixon, Maurita Starkey, Jan Blackwelder, and Jeanette Ubben.

The Marion Hospital nursery is wriggling this week with five tiny babies. The new arrivals are Richard Allen Dunn, born Aug. 23; Beverly Jean Hoch, Aug. 26; Mary Louise Hajek, Aug. 27; Beverly Jane Elling, Aug. 28; and Steven Earl Janzen, Aug. 29.
