Installation was completed this week on a chimes and broadcasting system at the Presbyterian Church. The system was a gift of the former Virgie Donaldson of this community and they were given in honor of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George T. Donaldson.

Amos Henry, owner and operator of the W.A. Henry Shoe Service here, has announced the expansion of his business by the purchase of a shoe repair shop at Lyons. Jack Radford will operate the shop at Lyons and Mr. Henry will continue to operate the shop in Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen are the happy parents of a daughter, Nancy Lee, born January 23 at the Hillsboro hospital.

Miss Wilma Geis, Durham, has been employed as bookkeeper at the Seymour Buying Station. She replaces the former Miss Lydia Meier whose marriage to Elmer Pankratz took place Friday.

Kenneth Sly and Bill Markham left for Kansas City on the Rocket Monday morning. Both joined the Army paratroopers and will report directly to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for basic training.

A step of vital importance to Marion County farmers was taken last week with the opening of a soils testing laboratory in connection with the Farm Bureau office. Marion County Agent Allen Risinger is pictured demonstrating the new machine to an interested group of county fertilizer dealers.
