A torrential rain covering this entire area and totaling 3.90 inches in Marion, more at other spots, sent Marion County rivers and streams rampaging Wednesday night, and at 3 a.m. Thursday the murky water rolled over the Main Street business area and valley residential districts.

The big early-season event in baseball, the District Semi-Pro Tournament in Marion will start June 19, according to Ed Navrat, commissioner of the National Baseball Congress.

Mrs. Elmer Scott took her Sunday school class for a hayrack ride to their farm, seven miles northeast of Marion May 31.
