A torrential rain covering this entire area and totaling 3.90 inches in Marion, more at other spots, sent Marion County rivers and streams rampaging Wednesday night, and at 3 a.m. Thursday the murky water rolled over the Main Street business area and valley residential districts.

The big early-season event in baseball, the District Semi-Pro Tournament in Marion will start June 19, according to Ed Navrat, commissioner of the National Baseball Congress.

Mrs. Elmer Scott took her Sunday school class for a hayrack ride to their farm, seven miles northeast of Marion May 31. Members of the class are Wade Robertson, Bruce Coe, Walter Smith, Betty Ford, Patricia Dixon, Billie Hiebert, Connie Long, Carmen Siebert, Judy Coons, Lowene Hiebert, Mary Lou Conyers, Margie Bernhardt, Betty Mathews, Jeanne Kline, and Carlita Bass.

Mrs. Amos Henry helped their son, Rickey, celebrate his fourth birthday Monday by inviting the following friends to lunch: Douglas Newlon, Donnie Roberts, Jeral Whitlock, Jimmie Keazer, Bobby Good and Pat and Greg Henry.

The roster of the American Legion Junior baseball team includes LeRoy Croyle, Jerry Pruitt, Jim Brandt, Delmar Klein, John Newcomer, Bill McKibben, Art Lewerenz, Eugene Christensen, Max Hayen, Dwight Fruechting, Ronald Hiebert, Robert McMillen, Duane Fruechting, David W. Wheeler jr., John Childs, Ronnie Post, and Charley Jones.
