The Disaster Loan Administration of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation is opening an office in Marion this weekend to take care of disaster loans of all types for this area. It will be maintained as long as the need for its services exists, and will serve stricken communities in this area.

One of the first most frequently asked questions of visitors who are away is, “How deep did the water get?” Here are a few representative high level readings: Marion Pharmacy, 64 inches; Marion City Building, 51 inches; Marion Post Office, 30 inches; Marion Light Plant, 21 inches; Duckwall’s, 58 inches; Bud’s Conoco, 70 inches; Marion National Bank, 57 inches; Marion Record, 33 inches inside, 6 feet outside; Valley School, 7 feet 8 inches in basement room.

An irreplaceable loss has been suffered at Marion City Library as a result of the recent flood. The library will be closed until further notice.

This issue had hardly any news other than that on the front page. The remaining 11 pages were filled with advertisements for after-flood sales and legal notices.
