Members of the Marion School Board elected David W. Wheeler president and Samuel Thole vice president by acclamation at their meeting Monday night.

One of the more interesting sports events of the season is slated to be held at Lincolnville Aug. 19 when an old-fashioned “Coon Dog Field Day” will be held for all comers.

The washhouse at the Bob Mathiot home south of town burned last Thursday morning. The blaze was caused, presumably, by an overheated kerosene stove.

The old landmark, the stone coal house on the site of the Grapes school house, is no more. Reuben Rempel bought it, tore it down, and has put it into a fine new double garage.

Judy Coons, Billie Herbert, Carmen Siebert, Connie Long, and Nancy Keazer are at Camp Wood at Elmdale this week.

Residents continue to rebuild, replace, repair, and refurnish homes following the flood. Activity includes new construction, actual moving of existing houses, rebuilding, and repair, or merely moving to another residence. Listed in this issue are plans being contemplated by over a dozen different homeowners and renters.
