A big blizzard that was to hit this area has passed around Marion, but this community did get a white blanket of snow, which fell late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Prizes for the annual home decoration are announced by the judges who made their tour of inspection and judging Monday night. The Edward Good home was awarded first place. Second prize went to Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Jantz. Tied for third were the homes of Stanley Anderson and Ira Newcomer. Fourth and fifth places went to the Ed Navrat and Harry Propp homes.

Miss Veona Wangerin, bride-elect of Mr. William B. Popp, Durham, was guest of honor at a shower at the home of Mrs. Alex Socolofsky last Thursday evening. Mrs. Dave Schlotthauer was co-hostess.

Spending Christmas at the Fred Hayen home will be Lt. and Mrs. B.N. Hayen and Bernie, Alamagordo, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Hayen and Fritzie, Ocheyedan, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Coover and Julie Ann, Erie; A/N Warren Hayen, Memphis, Tenn.; and Don and Jan of the home.
