The final survey of the new location for the proposed high school gymnasium and vocational agriculture building has been completed and sent to the architect, according to school board chairman, James Meisner. The new location will be on the northwest corner of the intersection one block south of the high school on South Lincoln Street.

The year 1949 was a good one for boy babies in this area. As recorded in the city clerk’s office, 40 were born as compared to 28 girls, for a year’s total of 68.

The Marion Civic Theatre group will present two one-act plays on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 30-31.

Carl Elling, Marion County agriculture agent, has resigned his position effective Feb. 1 at which time he will assume work in charge of sales and field operations for Riddle Quarries, Inc.

Ann Davies and Judy Thatch entertained friends at a New Year’s party at the Davies home. A good time was enjoyed by Carol Beth Miser, Carolyn Merrill, Nila Hoopes, Anita Klein, Barbara McDaris, Wanda Propp and Elsie Smith.
