Plans for the early construction of the Community Hospital at Marion made steady progress the past week in two major respects. A new site was purchased, and word was received that a $116,000 federal grant for help on the project had been approved by the state advisory hospital council.

Construction of 10 or more moderately priced modern homes is being planned for Marion by Riddle Quarries, according to John H. Riddle, quarry manager. This project which will constitute another major development for the community will be located on a group of lots on South Cedar Street purchased this week from E.V. Burkholder and S.D. Hower.

One of several survey teams sent out by the Corps of Army Engineers to examine possible sites for the proposed Air Force Academy visited, then re-visited Marion during the past week. After viewing several possible sections, they picked as being most desirable an area south and east of Marion and including the county lake.
