A big day is in store for the First Methodist Church of Marion Sunday when that congregation will observe its 81st anniversary. The stone church containing the auditorium was built in 1887 and a stone addition provided in 1923.

Josiah Good, 79, long time resident of Marion and former president of the State Bank of Commerce, died Wednesday at Wesley Hospital, Wichita.

Kathryn Popp, Richard Bredemeier, Laura Jane Bredemeier, John Newcomer, Roger Ireland, Mary Hannaford and June Avery were in the cast of the Marion High School production that received a “superior” rating Thursday evening at the CVL one-act play contest.

L.L. Hadsell, president of Farmers and Drovers National Bank presented awards recently to five Marion County farmers at the annual meeting of the Marion County Soil Conservation District. Those honored were Wesley Fenske, Lost Springs; Wesley Summervill, Marion; Vernon Slocombe, Peabody; C.G. Stutzman, Peabody; and Max McClure, Florence.
