One more step of progress on the Community Hospital project was accomplished this week. The deed to the property upon which the building and nurses’ home will be erected was filed by board chairman, John E. Wheeler.

Tennis enthusiasts will soon have a first-rate place to play the game at the city park. Custodian Jake Hein is completing the renovation of the courts that were equipped with all new poles, wire, etc., last year.

Marion City Building on Saturday evening will again be the gathering spot for those who enjoy square and mixed dances. This project is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, with music and calling by Max Dunn and his orchestra.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Waddell attended the KU relays at Lawrence last Saturday. Their son, Dwight, a senior at Emporia State Teachers College, anchored in the winning distance medley. The team also took second in the two-mile relay.

The senior class of Marion High School last week thoroughly surprised and deeply touched the custodian of the school building Herbert Hett, when they dedicated their 1950 annual, The Warrior, to him.
