According to a decision made this week, county commissioners, acting in their capacity as County Welfare Board, advised the county welfare director to start finding new quarters for the 13 persons being housed at the county home northwest of Aulne. Plans are to close the home as soon as suitable arrangements can be made for these people.

Marjorie Collett and Doris Meredith have been selected to attend Girls’ State June 11-18 at the University of Kansas.

According to the Marion County Health Department, only one new case of scarlet fever has been reported in Marion County during the past week. Thirteen new cases of mumps were reported.

A group of students gathered at the lake Thursday evening for an all-school party and dance. A sack lunch was enjoyed at 6:30 p.m. in the barracks due to the strong wind. At 8 p.m., Joe Gamache and his Stardusters furnished music for a dance. During intermission, Max Merrill and Bud Hannaford presented a skit and refreshments of cake and pop were served.
