Bids have been let for major improvements to the Marion Post Office. The contracts call for repairs covering flood damage to the interior of the building and for a one-way mail pickup and delivery drive, entering on Main Street and exiting onto South Fourth Street.

The Marion football “Warriors” closed their 1951 season at Peabody Thanksgiving Day with a resounding 36-0 victory over their hosts.

Santa Claus will be in Marion Saturday, Dec. 22. He will arrive at 3 p.m., parade down Main Street, and pass out treats to children assembled at the City Building

Elda Pankratz was the honoree at a birthday party after school Nov. 20 at the home of Mrs. James Conyers with Mrs. Carl Bass as assisting hostess. Other guests were Jeanne Kline, Jan Blackwelder, Mary Lou Conyers, Joyce Pientka, Betty Mathews, Johnsie Belle Just, Levina Kroeker, Margaret McClain, Maurita Starkey, Marjie Bernhardt, Patricia Dixon, Joyce Ubben, Mary Ann Williams, and Carlita Bass.

Jan Van Buren, 6-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Van Buren, who has been hospitalized in St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, since Nov. 15 with poliomyelitis, is much improved.

Five MHS Warriors were among those named on the “All Cottonwood Valley League” football team. Those selected for first team honors were Gene Christensen, end; Larry Stenzel, guard; Ted Heath, center; Bill McKibbin and LeRoy Roberts, backs. Dwight Fruechting, back, and James Propp, guard, were selected to the honorable mention team.
