Aided by unusually fine building weather, the work on the Marion Community Hospital has progressed to the point where the general contractor, the English Constructing Company, says it is now more than fifty percent complete

Mrs. Glen Conyers, the former Dorothy Adams, was the honoree at a miscellaneous shower Monday evening at the home of Miss Kathryn Popp. Mrs. Richard Janzen was co-hostess.

A final football honor to Marion and especially to two of this year’s seniors came with the announcement of the first Kansas City Star schoolboy all-state selections. Halfback Leroy Roberts and center Ted Heath were among those named.

Alice Ward was honored with a dinner December 2 at Kingfisher’s Inn in celebration of her birthday. Others there included Mary Ann Skibbe, Sarabel Wolf, Patricia Henry, Mary Hannaford, and Dorothy Sandwell.

Betty Sellers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Sellers of west of Florence, and a member of the Jayhawk 4-H Club, took top honors in the 4-H cherry pie baking contest and will go to state competition in the near future.

A group of MHS students made a trip to Topeka Dec. 10 to visit Meyers and Company, publishers of the school annual. The day was well spent in both learning about the annual and a visit to the Capitol. Those making the trip were David Leppke, editor; Sarabel Wolf and Virginia Winters, business managers; Juanita Ford, photographer, and Bob Cook.
