Although the building isn’t yet quite complete, regular services start this Sunday, Dec. 23, in the new St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, according to Father Paul Meier. A short ceremony, blessing the church, will be held shortly before 8 a.m. and precedes the first Mass.

Dear Santa: How are you? I am just fine. I like school. I am in the fifth grade. We have a good teacher. She is Mrs. Brown. I have a little brother. He is three years old. He wants a toy truck and a puppy (alive). I would like an Indian bracelet, ring and necklace, and a Monopoly set. I hope this is not too much. Goodbye Santa. Love, Juanita Kelsey.

Karen Shull, whose ninth birthday will occur Dec. 25, was the honored guest at a pre-birthday party last Saturday at the home of her parents, the A.J. Shulls. The following little girls and Karen’s teacher, Mrs. A.W. Haizlip, were guests: Bess Haizlip, Sue Haizlip, Shirley Boyer, Anita and Deana Gleason, Lou Esther Wheeler, Carol Sue Conyers, Sue Summervill, Ruth Muck, Karen Thole, and Lucinda Hauser.

Dear Santa: Is it very cold up there? For Christmas I would like to have a boy doll and a box of clay. I have a big brother. He would like a water gun and a pen and pencil set. I go to Wren school. I am in the second grade. I like school. We have a good teacher. She lives in Saffordville. She would like a billfold for Christmas. Love, Deanna Kay Klenda.
