The new, modern Scully Estate office building, located on South Freeborn Street in Marion, was recently finished by the N.F. English Construction Company of Hutchinson. The building is a good looking, modern, and welcome addition to the city.
There will be a coyote hunt in the Youngtown community Monday, Dec 31. Meet at the Youngtown schoolhouse at 10 a.m.
Dick Jantz won first prize and Edward Good received second place in the annual Marion Christmas home decorations contest. The Jantz first prize was $20. Second place to Edward Good was $12.50. Third prize, $7.50, went to James Meisner; fourth prize, $6.00 to Joe Childs, and fifth place, $4.00 went to Marion Schmidt. All cash awards were presented by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
Verla Bernhardt entertained her Strassburg Sunday school class with a Christmas party and gift exchange Tuesday evening at the home of her mother. The following girls were present: Karen Thole, Suzette Batthauer, Rose Marie Ollenberger, Juanita and Zona Kelsey, Deanna Dunn, Maxine and LaVonda Hinz, Carol Krispense, Naomi Stenzel, Faith Seifert and Violet Krispense.
Playing at the Kaw Theatre this week are “The Prince who was a Thief” starring Tony Curtis and Piper Laurie; “The Flying Missile” with Glenn Ford and Viveca Lindfors; Smiley Burnette in “Frontier Outpost;” “Three Guys Named Mike” starring Jane Wyman, Van Johnson, Howard Keel, and Barry Sullivan; and “Rich, Young, and Pretty” with Jane Powell, Danielle Darrieux, Wendell Corey, Fernando Lamas, and Vic Damone.
