The popular basement dining and meeting room at the Marion City Building this week is undergoing a radical appearance change. It is receiving a coat of water repellant cement plaster, covering up the unusual cut-stone walls.

Vernie Vinduska was honored with a birthday party Jan. 13 at the home of her parents. Guests included Rosalie Vinduska, Helen Vinduska, Dolores Bezdek, Edna Grimes, Mary Jane Stuchlik, Darlene Richmond, Patsy Meysing, Georgene Tajchman, Gene Konecny. Richard Arnold, Duane Stroda, Marcel Steinert, Wilbert Rindt, Eugene Vinduska, Harold Byram, Lonnie Navrat, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Loney.

A group of men from the Strassburg church gathered at the timbers of Sam Thole and Leland Seifert Wednesday and sawed a large pile of wood to be used for the furnace in the church parsonage.

Private Robert Reinke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Reinke, Marion, has completed his 16-weeks training cycle with a unit of the 6th Armored Division at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Rev. George H. DeBoer, pastor of the Marion Presbyterian Church for the past four years has accepted a call to become the pastor of the Linwood Church in Wichita.

A chalk line 50 feet long will be drawn on the sidewalk in front of the American Legion Memorial building Saturday and legionnaires will be in charge of encouraging passers-by to place dimes on the line for the annual polio fighting “March of Dimes” campaign.
