The March lion blustered onto the stage Saturday, with a combination batch of sleet, rain and snow, and then added more misery Sunday and Monday with the heaviest and most widespread snowfall in 10 years. The snowfall is estimated on the average to be 10 inches deep.

The city commission has placed an order for three warning blinker light traffic signals. Tentative plans are to install lights at the first intersections both on the east and west sides of town, at Coble and Main streets and on west Santa Fe at the Pilsen road corner. A third one will probably be installed at the corner of Main and Elm streets.

The new location of the local Ford Agency will formally open Saturday. The new building was constructed on the site of the former W.J. Haas furniture store and Buck’s Ready-to Wear and was originally known at the Shepard building.

Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Oblander announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carol, to James Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hett, Marion. The wedding date has been set for May 25.

Mr. and Mrs. John Adams, Mr. and Mrs. George Thye, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Giesbrecht and Frances were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ireland of Florence Thursday evening for a supper in celebration of their wedding anniversaries. It’s unusual, but all four couples were married on February 28, but in different years.
