The completely renovated and modernized county home has been named “Cedar Rest,” according to welfare director Mrs. Pauline Hoskinson, and has officially started its new life March 1.
The local Cub Scout Pack celebrated the 42nd anniversary of Scouting Thursday evening at their annual Blue and Gold Banquet. Among awards presented that evening were Bobcat badges to Jan Hayen, Ronnie Priebe and Robert Morse, Wolf badges to William Tucker Jr. and Donnie Bezdek, Bear badge to Duane Reed, and Lion badges to Lane Broadstreet and Leland Deines.
A surprise birthday party was held Sunday afternoon in honor of Gaila Jost’s 12th birthday. Invited guests were Mary Ann Williams, Mary Lou Conyers, Carol Sue Conyers, Cynthia Carney, Deanna Love, Rita Miser, Lowene Hiebert, Molly Brodhead, Bernadine Broadstreet, Darlene Oblander, Marilyn Dixon, Carolyn Susdorf, Janet Ubben, Margo Webster and Carlita Bass.
Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey are the parents of a son, whom they have named Dean Cranford, born March 10 at the McPherson hospital.
Television fans in this “fringe” area some distance from any broadcast station, got their wish Friday night during the much-publicized KU-K-State basketball game at KU. Reception was exceptionally good and virtually all of the sets in this area had their full quota of watchers. The game was televised through WDAF-TV, Kansas City.
