The Herington Chamber of Commerce has chartered a special train to Abilene June 4 to see General Dwight Eisenhower. People from Marion have been invited to share it with them. They have even arranged for a lunch to be served on the train. If you care to take this trip, the cost for the round trip, lunch and all is $3.50.

Four Marion High School students of next fall’s senior class have been selected to spend a week at Girls’ State and Boys’ State this summer. They are Shirley Tiemeier, Nancy Allen, Duane Fruechting, and Myron Jantz.

Little Miss Karen Jost of Bown Corby School reigned as Queen of the May Fete May 12 in the new gymnasium. Johnny Christensen escorted the queen. Other attendants representing the different classes were: kindergarten, Cheryl Tidwell and Max Jackson; 1st grade, Shirley Love and Lowell Ensey; 2nd grade, Carolyn Risinger and Jan Hayen; 3rd grade, Sandra Long and Joel Newlon.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagans, Manhattan, formerly of Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jean, to Naval Cadet Alex Case, Corpus Christi, Texas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, Marion. The marriage will take place this summer.

Cpl. Kerns C. Allen left from Camp Kilmer, N.J., last Monday for Europe. He enjoyed a three-day visit with Tim Burkholder in New York before leaving for Europe.

A.J. Klenda and Paul Meysing will represent the Pilsen Knights of Columbus Council at the annual state meeting in Wichita this weekend.
