All of Marion County got a good soaking the past week. A total of 1.61 inches of moisture fell here. Part of it was rain, part a heavy slushy snow, and part of an inch of moisture in a dry snow Tuesday night. All this is according to Dr. P.J. Garrison, local weather observer.

A square dance festival will be held at the Marion gymnasium March 14. An imposing list of at least eight well-known callers, headed by Frank Pecinovsky of Kansas City, will keep the dancers busy.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kline and daughter, Jill, moved this week from the jail residence into a home in the 400 block of South Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Loveless and family moved Wednesday from their country home into the jail residence for the duration of his term as sheriff.

Ben Meier has announced his intention of running for a second term as mayor of Marion.

An unusual triple wedding anniversary celebration was held March 15 at the Strassburg Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. David Propp and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Stenzel, who were married March 15, 1903, in a double wedding ceremony celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Stenzel, who were married on the date of the wedding of her parents, the Karl Stenzels, observed their 25th anniversary.
