R. Wm. Wygle, at present superintendent of schools at Peru, Kansas, has accepted the position of principal at Marion High School for the 1953-54 term.

Fifth grade Girl Scouts of Marion cooked up a fine dinner as part of their training for second class badges. The culinary effort took place at the homes of two of the mothers, Mrs. David Wheeler and Mrs. Fred Muck. Scouts pictured are Margie Winters, Joyce Remmers, Janice Weber, Elizabeth Martinez, Lu Esther Wheeler, Jan Rathert, Lucinda Hauser, Anita Gleason, Mary Lou Schmidt, Bess Haizlip, Karen Shull, Ruth Muck, Dorothy Hedrick, Deana Gleason, and Sue Ann Bratton.

Parents of babies born at St. Luke Hospital the past week include Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiens whose daughter, Denise Faye, was born Feb. 27; Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers, parents of a boy, Russell Dean, born March 7 and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Rathert whose son, Mark Francis, was born March 8.

St. Patrick would have been proud of the meeting of the Presbyterian men’s club, the 71’ers, at their St. Patrick meeting Wednesday evening. James Blackim spoke on Ireland in his boyhood compared to his last visit in 1948. He then introduced Charles Heerey who showed flax for Irish linen and peat he brought back from his last visit there.
