Al and Dan’s Quality Food Market opened for business last Friday in the former location of the Kroger store in the Masonic building.

Kenneth Heinz announced this week that he has purchased the former Janzen Jewelry store in Marion. Heinz has been manager of the store since summer of 1951. The business will now be known as Heinz Jewelry.

Thirty-five Marion High School seniors will don caps and gowns Wednesday evening to take part in the 69th annual commencement exercises. Harry F. Corbin, president of Wichita University, will be speaker.

Ginger Price, daughter of Agnes Price, was chosen Tuesday evening as Marion VFW post’s Operation Goodwill representative to Mexico this summer. Marilyn Reh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Reh was second runner-up with Pat Kruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kruse, third.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Slocombe, Peabody, announce the engagement of their daughter, LaVonne, to Roger W. Hannaford, son of Mrs. Roger Hannaford, Marion, A fall wedding is planned.

Members of the high school freshman class enjoyed a hayrack ride and picnic Monday evening at the Waterworks Park.

Patsy Slusser entertained the sixth grade students taught by Mrs. Bob Edmunds at a skating party Monday evening at the rink.
