Unofficial population figures for Marion County show a loss of 300 during the past year. Lehigh, Florence, Ramona and Burns are the only towns showing slight gains.

Marion City Auditorium has finally received its latest renovation since the flood of two years ago. New seats, financed by the flood restoration funds, have been put in place and add greatly to the auditorium’s comfort and attractiveness. The upholstering work was done by Mrs. Jack Highsmith, and the seats were all fitted and put in place by Jake Hein.

Ten Boy Scouts took part in a “court of honor” ceremony Monday evening at the American Legion hall. New Tenderfoot Scouts are Leland Deines, Bill Good, Duane Reed, Jerry Shirley, Virgil A. Wiebe Jr. and Earl Winter. New Second Class Scouts are Jimmie Christensen, Neil Hoopes, Laurence Priddle, and Tommy Shirley.

A wiener roast at the Waterworks Park and a line party at the Kaw was the farewell party given for Marilyn Cook Tuesday evening. Girls in the party included Nancy Allen, Judy Coons, Carmen Siebert, Nancy Keazer, LeNore Wheeler, Deloris Reed, Shirley Tiemeier, Kay Navrat and Jeanette Russell.

Patsy Harris asked guests for a one o’clock luncheon Saturday complimenting Loyette Hollar, whose wedding to Kenneth Swanson was an event of May 24.
