Pat Kruse and Marilyn Reh, Marion High School juniors, have been selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls’ State in June on the University of Kansas campus at Lawrence.

William Wygle, who is to be the new principal at Marion High School, and his family moved Monday into the Henry property on north Locust Street. The family formerly lived in Peru, Kansas, where he was superintendent of schools.

Art Jantz has been hired as the butcher at Al and Dan’s Quality Food Market. Jantz lives in Hillsboro and will drive back and forth. He formerly was with Schaeffler’s at Hillsboro where he learned the butcher trade.

Loyette Hollar and Kenneth Swanson were married May 24 at the Marion Methodist Church. Both Mr. and Mrs. Swanson are very popular Marion teachers and will teach in Marion again next fall.

The women who work in the basement of the courthouse had a breakfast at the home of Dorothy Shahan Friday morning honoring former employee, Mrs. Ernest Ireland, who moved last week to Hutchinson.

Howard Collett of Marion is one of five Marion County students who graduated May 28 from Emporia State College. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
