Marion had the first unpleasant experience of its kind Wednesday morning when pickets appeared at the business office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Shortly after the office opened, they dispersed. It was explained that they cannot picket the building where the exchange is located since other firms and offices use the same entryway.

Leslie R. Broadstreet, local photographer, has been awarded two certificates of merit at the annual convention of Photographer’s Association of America. The pictures are of “Daddy” Brooker, who will celebrate his 100th birthday in December, and young Kenny White of Lincolnville.

Zona Elaine Kelsey entertained a group of girls Monday night at a slumber party at the Kelsey home northwest of town. Those present included Pat Kruse, Madora Richmond, Neva Stenzel, Carol Jean Krispense, and Maxine Hinz.

Mrs. Amos Henry is working at the law offices of Wheeler and Westerhaus, taking the place of Kathryn Popp who resigned her position to be married the early part of September.

Janet Holub was hostess to members of Sub Deb Club with Janice Riffel as co-hostess. Mrs. Arnold Schwemmer gave an interesting talk on the history of Sub Deb and several pointers for good membership.
