Edward J. Costello, young Marion attorney, this week announces that he has accepted a position as cashier of the Tampa State Bank effective Sept. 1. He plans to continue his legal practice from there.

The D.W. Wheeler residence, one of Marion’s well-known old homes was leveled the ground last week to make room for two new homes planned for that corner location at Locust and Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meier plan to build a new house on the corner. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stenzel will build a home to the south.

Mrs. Kenneth Van Cleave invited a few young folks for ice cream and cake Wednesday afternoon to celebrate her son, Larry’s, first birthday. Guests were Janice and Stevie Childs, Elaine, Monty, and Nancy Rogers, Gary Melcher, Wally Slusser, and Connie and Maurice Allen.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Janzen entertained with a family hamburger fry Saturday evening in honor of the second birthday of their son, Steven.

The new Home Demonstration Agent for Marion County is Mrs. Boyd Higgins. She takes the place of Mrs. Dean Batt who resigned after temporarily filling the vacancy in the department.

Several men gathered at Coon’s Restaurant Tuesday afternoon for an informal birthday party honoring Bill DuVall.
