Ezra Bernhardt announced this week that he has sold his popular Dairy Queen business in Marion to Ezra Schimpf, well-known farmer from northwest of town.

Rev. Fr. Matthew Wyse who comes to Marion from chaplaincy in the hospital at Winfield has been installed as pastor of St. Mark Catholic Church, replacing Rev. Fr. Paul Meier, who has been transferred to St. Mary’s at Chase.

Verla Mae Bernhardt exchanged double ring marriage vows with James Cott at 7 p.m. October 2 in the sanctuary of Strassburg Baptist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schafers and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Schafers have extended an invitation to friends for a wedding dance at the lake hall Saturday, Oct. 10, at 8:30.

Sgt. Marion L. Piper, 21, Florence, who arrived from Korea Sept. 7 and was waiting to return home, was shot twice and robbed by two thugs Sunday in Los Angeles. He is in a critical condition with sub-machine gun wounds to his neck and head. Piper had been wounded three times in action in Korea.

A color movie portrayal of the Eisenhower inauguration as president will be shown at the Methodist church on Sunday and at the city building auditorium on Monday evening. Both showings are under the sponsorship of the Kiwanis club.
