Braden C. Johnston, one of Marion County’s ablest and most widely-known attorneys died quite suddenly at his home Nov. 21. He was 64 years of age. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church.

The formal installation services of the Rev. Arthur Tonne as pastor of St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen, took place Sunday.

Mrs. Ralph Rogers invited a number of neighbors and their children in Tuesday afternoon for ice cream and cake in celebration of her son, Monty’s second birthday. Those present were Janice and Stephen Childs, Larry Van Cleave and his mother Mrs. Kenneth Van Cleave, Mrs. Sherman Marler and Susan, Mrs. Fred Allen, Connie and Maurice, Mrs. Fred Wooldridge, Camille and Sheryl, Mrs. Harry Nelson, Sharon, Patsy, and Jerry, and Mrs. Jerry Holub.

The Junior Class of Marion High School will present a 3-act comedy, “Beauty and the Beast,” Dec. 4 in the high school auditorium. It is reported to have the largest cast ever to present a play by Marion High School.

Nila Hoopes was hostess Friday night for a slumber party following the Peabody-Marion football game. Those present included Judy Thatch, Carol Allen, Ann Davies, Carolyn Merrill and Rose Marie Holub.
