Forty-five trap shooters from over a wide area took part here Sunday at the Athletic Association’s new clubhouse and traps on the Municipal Airport grounds east of Marion. Al “Swede” Williams of Marion won the Class A trophy with a near perfect 99 out of 100. Carl Bass of Marion won the Class B trophy on the 16-yd line with 97 out of 100.

Steven Patton, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Patton, was seriously injured Thursday evening when he was kicked by a horse. The blow caused a fracture of the skull and brain concussion.

Air travelers through this area will more easily identify their locality through a large new sign on the roof of Badger Lumber Company. The new sign was put there by “The 99’ers,” a state organization of women aviators.

Lester Weatherwax, farm and public relations director of Wichita radio station KFBI, was in Marion County Tuesday interviewing various farmers on phases of their soil conservation work. Those he interviewed included Homer Hett, Herb Batt, and John Hett.

Kenneth Swanson, band director, is taking the Marion High School band to Topeka Sunday morning where two concerts will be given at the veterans’ hospital. Warren Gardner, Dwight and Pat Kruse, Howard Stenzel, and John Childs will present special numbers.
