Marion is to have a Christmas decoration plan that will make the city bright and beautiful, according to proposals worked out by a special Chamber of Commerce committee.

A central display room for all items of historical interest is being prepared in the former Firestone store location, where they will be properly identified and cared for by a member of the committee in charge at all times.

Marion High School students have elected officers of their various classes and organizations this week. Selected as president of the senior class is Leon Lais; junior class, Bruce Wingerd; sophomore, Warren Gardner, and freshman, Dean Klenda. Cheerleaders elected were A-team: Carolyn Merrill, Kay Navrat, Rose Marie Holub, Ann Davies, and Margie Bernhardt. B-team cheerleaders are Nancy Keazer, Judy Coons, Darlene Oblander, and Jeanne Kline.

A meeting of 13 Catholic parishes from the Wichita area was held Monday at Wichita to organize a fund raising campaign to erect the proposed Chaplain Kapaun Memorial High School in honor of the Marion County hero-priest.

Don Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kline, is on the Emporia State Hornet football squad this fall. Also counted on by Coach Fran Welch as a promising player is Ronnie Post, star Marion Warrior quarterback last year and two years previously. Ronnie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Post.
