This week marks the second anniversary of the opening of St. Luke Hospital. A luncheon Oct. 18 honored active staff members and their wives. Then on Oct. 20, employees entertained the Sisters and doctors at an informal party. During the two years, 1,662 patients have been admitted. Of that number, 202 have been newborn infants.

Captain John R. Wheeler, 37, of Fort Carson, Colorado’s famed 4th Field Artillery Battalion and his amazing jumping horse, Little Mac, probably will represent the United States in equestrian competition during the 1955 Pan-American Games in Mexico City next March.

Mrs. Alden Slusser entertained a number of children Saturday afternoon in celebration of the sixth birthday of her son, Wallace. Invitations were sent to John Schmersey, Richard Hume, Lonnie Stage, Wally and Patty Bledsoe, Susan Lentz, Wayne King, Steven and Janice Childs, Jeannie Keazer, Dennis Conyers, Susan Bailey, Judy Pankratz, Bobby Good, Dean Jost, and Patty Sue Plenert.

Mr. and Mrs. Enos Kapaun were honor guests Oct. 14 at a dinner at the Broadview Hotel in Wichita in connection with the successful fund drive to construct a boys’ high school in Wichita as a memorial to the late Chaplain Emil Kapaun, hero priest of the Korean campaign.
