This week the newspaper presents another of Marion’s fine new homes—the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meier and their son, Verlin. The house is an extremely attractive six-room ranch-style located at 230 Locust on a corner lot with beautiful trees for a setting.

Next Monday, Judge Jay E. Hargett completes 30 years of public service in Marion County—26 as Probate Judge and Judge of the County Court, and four as County Attorney.

In an “orderly rush,” Robert Arnold, Hillsboro, arrived at 4 a.m. to be first in line at the courthouse this year and he received No. 1 car tag. At 4:15 Virgil Allen, Marion, arrived and got No. 2 car tag and No. 1 truck license. No. 3 car tag was issued to Kenneth D. Sly, Marion.

Darold Longhofer entertained 12 of his friends Thursday afternoon in celebration of his 7th birthday. Those present were Blair Post, Bob Hoch, George Jackson, Jim Ottensmeier, Jim Weidenbener, John Schmersey, Richard Hume, Pat Costello, Wally Slusser, Dennis Conyers, Bob Good, Wally Bledsoe, and David Longhofer.

The first baby born at St. Luke Hospital in the New Year is Blaine Douglas Ammeter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Ammeter, Florence, who arrived at 11:47 p.m. January 5.
