Sister Mary Ferdinand, Saint Luke Hospital supervisor, is pictured as Mrs. James Kline and Mrs. Carl Elling of Marion’s Coterie Club present her a check. The money will be used to purchase a child’s size respirator.
Betty Sellers, Florence teen-ager, was adjudged Marion County 4-H cherry pie baking contest winner Saturday at competition held in the home economics department of Marion High School. Other contestants were Shirley Unrau, Lehigh; Sandra Higgins, Marion; Janice Pfifer, Peabody; and JoAnn Negley, Durham.
Mrs. Edith Collett had a narrow escape Wednesday morning when her dress caught fire from a heating stove in her home. Mrs. Collett’s skirt blazed up and was enveloping her when Mary Coffin, who makes her home with Mrs. Collett, grabbed a heavy coat, and smothered out the flames. Mrs. Collett was taken to St. Luke where she was treated for shock and burns.
Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case entertained with a family dinner Tuesday evening honoring their little daughter Tammy’s fourth birthday anniversary.
Members of Coterie Club enjoyed a line party to the Kaw Theatre Monday evening, afterward going to the home of Mrs. Charles Magee where dessert and coffee were served. Mrs. Bob Hoover was assisting hostess.
