High, cold winds and drifting snow today cause closing of all Marion County elementary and high schools with the exception of Marion, where about 60% attendance allowed classes to continue.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beaston at 515 Locust Street is one of the new homes in Marion featured during recent weeks. The attractive brick veneer ranch-style home was built by Fred Foth of Hillsboro. One of its finer features is the view from their picture window overlooking the valley to the west.

A court of honor for Marion Boy Scouts was held Monday evening at the American Legion hall. Pictured receiving first and second class and star and life awards from Scoutmaster Virgil Wiebe are Wayne Johnston, Kenneth Bowers, Leslie Johnston, Paul Schmersey, Larry Evans, Wayne Thies, Jerry Loveless, Michael Seaton, Marion Kelsey, and Earl Winter.

Mack Sanders and his radio and television “Ranch Boys” will be the featured entertainment Friday evening at the Tampa High School auditorium. The program is being sponsored by the Triple T’s 4-H Club.

Western Waterproofing Co., Wichita, unloaded steel scaffolding and other equipment this week preparatory to doing rather extensive work on the east wall of the Wheeler building which was exposed after the YMCA building fire.
