The brick veneer, ranch-style home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bernhardt and daughter, Margie, is pictured as this week’s “new home in Marion.” The home was designed entirely by the family, both as to floor plan and exterior appearance.

One of the most recent innovations in the Marion grade schools is the milk program. At a low cost, it is adding greatly to students’ health, interest and vitality.

Edwin Manville Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, took the two-day state bar examination this week and was admitted Wednesday to practice law in Kansas.

One of Marion County’s oldest and best-known general stores, the Strickler Mercantile Company in Ramona, burned to the ground shortly before midnight last Thursday.

Jan Hayen, assisted by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayen, celebrated his birthday Sunday with members of his Cub Scout Den and friends. Guests were Jan’s Den Mother and family, Mr and Mrs. Harold Keazer, Jimmie, Jeanne, and Douglas, Lowell and Larry Ensey, Timmy Colle, Mike Schwemmer, Dennis Schroeder, Tommy Good, Dennis Pankratz and Timmy Williams.

Marion High School’s high- flying Warriors cinched the Cottonwood Valley League basketball title Friday with a 55-42 win of their arch opponents, the Hillsboro Trojans.
