Work is progressing steadily in the early stages of three new homes in Marion. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hoover are building on the corner of the first block on South Freeborn, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Schafers on the east side of South Freeborn across from St. Luke Hospital, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stephens on the east corner of the first block of South Lincoln.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Dieter and two sons moved last weekend to the old Grimes place, southwest of the city limits, lately owned by John Williams.

Forty-five of the 108 babies born at St. Luke Hospital since last year, along with their mothers, attended the annual birthday party Wednesday afternoon as guests of the sisters who operate the hospital.

Archie Marler reopened his Cozy Café Saturday after being closed for several days for complete redecorating.

Pictured on the front page is a mud “hogan” built by the 17 students, in all eight grades, of Waldech rural school, north of Lehigh. They built a genuine Indian “hogan” of mud, grass and straw in the school yard.

Judy Coons entertained with a hamburger supper Monday in celebration of her birthday and Deloris Reid’s. The group included Kay Navrat, Carmen Siebert, Nancy Keazer, Deloris and Judy.
