The major improvement at Marion High School this summer will be the transformation of the old gymnasium in the high school building into a modern music department. The east balcony will be removed and the north end made into two floors with practice rooms and an office on the lower level and two larger rooms on the upper level.

Memberships at Marion Country Club run from June 1 each year and now are due. As for many years, this is $10 a year for each family and entitles all members of the family to the facilities and activities of the club.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kruse announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Patricia Diane, to Lowell Edward Socolofsky, Ramona. The couple has selected the evening of July 24 as the date for the ceremony.

Prices advertised at J.C. Penney’s this week for Father’s Day include sport shirts from $1.49 to $3.95; colorful socks, 49c to 79c; underwear, 49c to 79c; straw hats, both conventional and western, $1.98 to $3.98; dress shirts, $2.98; and orlon and nylon slacks, $5.90.

News from Pilsen, by Helen Navrat—The former Wren school has been made into a modern country home by Mr. and Mrs. George Waner. With a bit of landscaping, it will be most attractive.
