The second shots in the polio prevention program for Marion County are being delayed by an insufficient supply of the Salk vaccine.

The residence of Mrs. Allan Kimble, on the Main Street hill, is one of the most attractive of Marion homes. The spacious connected garage is fitted with a radio-operated door that is opened and shut by pressing a button on the car’s dash.

Dorothy Hedrick successfully surprised her sister, Shirley, Thursday evening by inviting friends to the park for a picnic supper, followed by a slumber party at the Hedrick home. Those present for the picnic were Karon Highsmith, Alvera Griffin, Karen Rogers, Sue Bratton, and Wanda Johnson.

Gemma Jirak, 11-year-old daughter of Henry Jirak of Pilsen, received a 16-volume set of “The Children’s Hour” for sending the winning question to the Ask Andy column in a Wichita paper. The volumes contain many works by famous authors on adventure, history, fiction and poetry.

Several young people of the Evangelical United Brethren Church plan to attend summer assembly at Forest Park in Topeka August 1 to 9. They include Doloris Wittmeyer, Betty Ford, Caroline Susdorf, Paul Ford, Gaila Jost, Margie Bernhardt, Bill Good, and Arlene Hett.
