This week’s new home in Marion is that of the Albert Strodas at 521 North Cedar. The Strodas moved to Marion from their farm in the Youngtown community. Bernal Johnson was builder of the home.
Monsignor John M. Sklenar, for many years pastor of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church at Pilsen, now retired, was honored at a reunion of St. Meinard Seminary alumni held in Wichita Oct. 12 and 13. He is the oldest living alumnus of St. Meinard, having been ordained June 21, 1891.
Connie Fisher celebrated her birthday Wednesday by inviting several friends for birthday cake and a good time at her home. Those present included Deanna Kimball, Faith Kelsey, Janet Whitlock, Sandra Jackson, Georgie Helmer and Donna Newsom.
The junior class of Marion High School will present a three-act comedy, “Tiger on His Toes,” Nov. 1 in the city auditorium. Students in the play are Warren Gardner, John Minear, Margie Bernhardt, Pat Dixon, Mary Lou Conyers, Wayne Bratton, Dee Cheek, Bob Eckstrom, Margaret McClain, Betty Mathews, Elda Pankratz, Dolores Schafers, Maxine Hinz, John Price, Wade Robertson, and Michael Seaton.
Playing at center for Emporia State College’s Hornets is Don Kline, 6-2, 185-pounder from Marion. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Kline.
