O.F. Herbert, Peabody, was elected last week to be chairman of the county commissioners at their annual reorganizational meeting. He will succeed Herb Hiebert of Hillsboro.

Riddle Quarries, Inc., producer of agricultural limestone, rock aggregate, and other limestone products, has been sold to Hallett Construction Company with headquarters in Crosby, Minnesota.

Births announced in this issue are those of Kimberly Kae Buethe, Jeffrey Alan Burkholder, Melanie Dawn Conyers, Rodney Dean Jirak, and Brenda Marie Hiebert.

Suzanna Carmichael, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Carmichael of Lindsborg, became Mrs. Jon Thole in a wedding ceremony performed Dec. 28 at Trinity Methodist Church in Lindsborg. Mr. Thole is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thole of Marion.

Paul Mayginnes, Marion County 4-H Club agent, has resigned his position with the extension service here and has accepted a position with the Missouri Extension Service, affiliated with the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Matthew Classen was officially installed Monday noon as president of the Marion Kiwanis Club. Also installed were D.W. Wheeler, secretary, and Boyce Baumgardner, treasurer.
