Mr. and Mrs. Paul Minear treated members of the Marion High School basketball team to a steak dinner at their home Saturday in honor of the team winning the district tournament last week. Team members attending were John Minear, Jim Christensen, Larry Schlehuber, Roland Vogel, David Montgomery, Warren Gardner, Tommy Shirley, Wade Robertson, Neil Hoopes, and James Gilbert. Also present were Coaches Floyd Yaussi, Ed Frickey, and C.R. Wall.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Varenhorst were in Wichita Friday to buy spring merchandise at the wholesale house.

When a birthday occurs only once every four years, it is a very special occasion. So, Loretta Dee Smith, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Merle Smith, had a birthday celebration Feb. 29 at the city building. About 50 pupils of the two second grades and the teachers, Mrs. A.W. Haizlip and Mrs. James Criswell, were invited as guests.

Members of the Junior Riding Club will meet at the ballpark east of town Saturday afternoon for a scheduled ride.

Robert S. Edmunds has joined the staff of the local Farm Bureau insurance agency and is now working on a full time basis. He is married to the former Pauline Best, who teaches sixth grade in the Marion school system and they have a two-year-old son Mike.
