The seventh grade honored the eighth grade with a banquet Friday evening in the school lunchroom. John Christensen was toastmaster. The welcome was given by Pat Longhofer. Jim Williams gave a response for the eighth grade. The program included a piano solo by Patricia Funk and talks by A.W. Haizlip, Eileen Pavey, and R. Wm. Wygle.

Anna Linn was the only winner present at this week’s Cash Day drawing. She received $10. Not present to collect their prize were Mrs. Alvin Schick of Ramona, and Ruth M. Ayler, Leonard Klassen, and Marian Phillips Thatcher of Marion. First prize next week will be $210.

Fire destroyed the brooder house and 200 3-week-old chicks belonging to Dale Vogel, northwest of town, early Friday morning. Heat lamps in the brooder house were the cause of the fire, which threatened other buildings, but was prevented from spreading with the help of neighbors.
