Members of the 1916 graduation class of Marion High School are planning a reunion to be held May 30 at Marion County Club.

Clarence L. Matthews, well known and respected local postal employee, will officially retire on May 31 after 33 years of dispatching mail at the Marion post office.

Marion High School seniors left Sunday night on their sneak to Rockaway Beach in Missouri.

Again this week, the majority of those being offered prizes in the Cash Day event on Wednesday were not present. Mrs. T.O. Sauble of Cedar Point, Sam G. Pankratz, Mrs. Grace Slusser, and Mrs. Menno Buller of Hillsboro missed their cash awards. Marion Thatcher was the only one present to claim his prize of $5.

The Marion city baseball team defeated the Newton Merchants at Newton Sunday by the score of 14-11. Earl Janzen had a home run and a three base hit, while Kenneth Conyers and Maurice Pritz each had three baggers.

The local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star will celebrate its 50th anniversary today with a dinner at the Methodist Church followed by their meeting at the Masonic Hall. Mrs. Helen Waterman and her sister, Mrs. Anna Blackburn, were the first initiates into the chapter and will be especially honored during the evening.
