The Roscoe Czarnowsky farm about three miles east and a little north of Lincolnville was the scene of a disastrous fire Sunday afternoon. Reported destroyed in the fire were a large hay barn, a granary, a milk house, about 3,000 bales of prairie hay, a truck, and some other implements.

Mrs. Ed Frickey asked guests for a birthday party after school Thursday honoring her son Eddies’ seventh birthday. Guests were David Longhofer, Chuck Bredemeier, Donald and Ronald Sloup, Neil Colle, Steve Childs, Jackie Hill, Bobby Elling, Danny Frickey, and Terry Eakers of Topeka.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muck sponsored a hamburger fry at the Marion County Lake Thursday evening. Those invited were members of the high school Sunday school class of the Methodist church taught by Kenneth Rigler and Lloyd Davies. Young folks present were Oscar Davies, Robert Melton, Ralph Kreutziger, John Price John Minear, Junior Post, Tommy Shirley, Dick Rittel, Paul Schmersey, Dale Johnston, Larry Olsen, Ruth Muck, Marilyn Loveless, and Margaret McClain.

The University of Wichita football marching band appeared for the first time this season at the WU-Hardin-Simmons game. Lenore Wheeler, Marion, plays flute with the WU band.

A few fine catches recorded at the Marion County Lake this week include a 9½-pound blue cat by Bill Edmunds, a 15-pound blue cat by Al Kirchner, and a 7½-pound channel by Shorty Matthew.
