A photo on the front page shows the new entranceway to Marion Cemetery, recently completed by Pestinger Construction Co. of Hillsboro. The entrance, made of cut stone, provides a functional duty as well as lending a great deal of dignity to the area.
Marion Kiwanis Club on Monday appointed a committee of members to solicit funds toward aiding the Gnadenau Church, located south of Hillsboro, which burned Christmas morning. Kiwanians feel this would show gratitude, in a small measure, for the help received from that church following the 1951 flood.
James Allan Druse Jr., 2½-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Druse of El Dorado, was quite seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a fall from a slippery-slide at Bown-Corby school.
About 35 Marion Junior High boys were each rewarded with two big hamburgers, French fries, drinks and dessert Wednesday evening by the Tasty Grill proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Art Miles. The treat came as a result of an offer made last fall for a winning football season. The “Braves” really came through; they won every one of their games.
Mrs. Henry Regier announces the engagement of her daughter, Margie Louise, to Eugene Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Christensen.
